Spotlight on Avi Mehler (FYHS '03)

Josh Kanter

Graduating Year: 2003

Current Location:  Denver, CO

Profession: Business Development at an Energy Company

Tell us a little bit about your family:

I’m married with 4 kids.

What is your favorite memory/(memories) from FYHS/HTC/Kayitz:

I loved the camaraderie with my classmates and Rebbeim. As a dormer, there was a special connection that I had with my fellow dormers around Shabbasim. Lots of informal learning that's shaped me. I also have a fond memory of being on the basketball team and am still in touch with Sid Singer. I’m also still in contact with a number of Rebbeim and cherish those relationships.

Please share a lesson/takeaway from your time at FYHS/HTC/Kayitz:

The Yeshiva helped me lay a foundation for the way I lead my life and raise my family. There was a big stress on Torah learning and how to treat people. They inculcated that into our education

Advice for current students:

Maximize your time there. Try to develop lifelong connections with your rebbeim. These are the people who are together with you as you develop and mature.

Anything else to share?

It is important for people to appreciate what the Yeshiva provided for them and express their gratitude. They tried to infuse and give over the best well-rounded education for a Yeshiva high school.
