Fasman Yeshiva High School is pleased to announce the hiring of alumnus Rabbi Daniel Freund (FYHS ’97) as Director of General Studies, beginning in the 2022-23 school year.
Rabbi Freund is currently the principal of Yeshivat Kadimah High School in St. Louis, which he helped found in 2013. In that role, he worked hand-in-hand on the general studies program with Kadimah’s education director, and also helped the school earn accreditation, eventually serving as part of an accreditation team evaluating another school in the St. Louis area. He also ran the dual enrollment program at Kadimah, and worked closely with the school’s learning consultant to allow for differentiated instruction for students with a range of different academic abilities, including modified coursework while still providing the appropriate level of academic challenge.
“We’re excited to add Rabbi Freund to our leadership team,” said Rabbi Dovid Kupchik, FYHS Principal. “His extensive experience across our Yeshiva not only gives him a running start, it ensures that he deeply understands our environment and the needs of our talmidim. Additionally, his breadth of work in launching a new school, along with his extensive involvement in accreditation for his school and others, brings a fresh perspective on opportunities for growth for our Yeshiva.”
“Returning to Fasman Yeshiva is a real homecoming for me,” said Rabbi Freund, who was valedictorian of his FYHS graduating class, and who later served as a Kollel member, dormitory supervisor, and assistant to the FYHS principal. “I’m looking forward to building on the strong foundation already in place for our general studies program and helping FYHS students achieve even greater heights.”
Rabbi Freund received his semicha from Touro’s Lander College for Men and earned his BA in economics from Yeshiva University. He also holds an MA in Educational Leadership from Bellevue University, and is an adjunct faculty member at the Bellevue University School of Business.
In his spare time, Rabbi Freund is the founder and maggid shiur on the Daf Tube Daf Yomi channel. His Daf Yomi shiurim are enjoyed by Daf Yomi learners throughout the world and have garnered more than 200,000 views from thousands of viewers.
